Design Board: Burnished Glow Living Room

This living room is like the embrace of a friend. It envelops you, encouraging relaxation and offering its full support. The Art Deco marble fireplace surround inspired this design.

A pair of ridiculously good looking sofas in smoky caramel leather are the backbone of the design, flanking the fireplace and directing the eye to that focal point, visually.

Fluid chrome coffee tables a la design genius Karl Springer help to move light around the space and keep it feeling light.

Connecting the fireplace area with the seating area are two chrome bookshelves; art, books and items collected during the owners travels tucked in to add interest and personality.

The intricate geometrics of this wool rug bring in layers of rich color and add vibrancy and movement to the living room.

The pièce de résistance, a stunning Art Deco chandelier from French Atelier, Sabino circa 1935. The frosted glass skyscraper canopy is simply spectacular.

White opaque glass globe floor lamps with chrome bases add whimsy and offer additional evening lighting when desired.

With all the adornment and the heavily veined marble, a simple, large scale, coloured round mirror here offers substantial presence and uncomplicated decoration.

Design Board: Coastal Cabin Living Room

Relaxed luxury, an easy background that oozes holiday vibes all year round.. warm neutrals, soft textures, and natural rustic elements pull together for a polished get-away-from-it-all space.

The stone and driftwood fireplace surround inspired the design for this space. Soft forms, rounded edges and warm neutrals invite conversation and lingering.

A pair of Danish Flag Halyard lounge chairs start the grouping off, fireside. Iconic low-slung and generous lines paired with sheepskin and down filled bolsters offer the coziest spot to relax.

An expansive Mario Bellini sofa softly billows with lines reminiscent of marshmallows, that works in unison with our chairs, is a large piece that fits easily into this low-contrast design.

Caramel leather in paired back channel tufting finishes the living area with a chaise that will only get better with time.

A pair of medium-sized coffee tables in a warm wood finish have the gently rounded lines that flow well with our other pieces, and offer flexibility to be moved around the space with ease as needed.

A matte ceramic side table modelled from a log tucks in against our chaise, luxe nature at its best.

The white glass and brass lighting is a modern take on the classic shell chandelier.

Comfort for bare feet in a texture reminiscent of sisal, the creamy undyed wool rug is durable yet soft enough for kids to play upon.

Woven sun art personifies the coast – seagrass and sun! Natural textures and handmade items add timeless interest and keep the space from feeling too formal.

Design Board: Slinky Sofa Living Room

Neutrals, but through a looking glass, slightly softened, warmer whites, softer, silkier blacks. Inspired by snakeskin, and fluid movement.

The sofa that started it all. A vintage DS 600 leather stunner by De Sede. Creamy leather, in all its superstar glory. All the other pieces are dark in tone to ensure this sofa stays the centre of the design.

A slinky sofa deserves a slinky rug, yes? The Monty Rug from W Studio fits the bill, a subtle snakeskin pattern in tonal greys..

A pair of ebony armchairs are light in footprint, but strong in presence with their modernist lines and exceptional construction.

An undulating leather top and midcentury vibe wood-frame link the inlaid natural oak floorboards to the furnishings.

That sofa requires a special coffee table, and this curvilinear rectangular form wrapped in black lizard leather by Karl Springer will do nicely.

A pair of Marcel Wanders floor lamps by Cappelini flank the sofa, increasing its visual weight and offering balance to all the dark tones in the space.

The Bezier oak console rests against the back wall, providing storage and display space behind the seating area. A rich black stain keeps it modern and cohesive with the rest of the space.

Spectacular photograph based art by Rita Bernstein is the crowning element of this room, haunting imagery created by her unique process of combining beeswax, oil paint and photography on paper.
