It’s Fall. Last week we packed away the paddle boards at home, and a few tears may have been shed, lol. This week, however, I added a new velvet quilt to our room, made butternut squash soup (a family favourite), came up with (and tested, ahem) a delectable fall cocktail to drown our sorrows in, and dressed the table for our Thanksgiving dinner. Small silvers of happiness as we practice acceptance of our fate! As we settle back into newsletter writing and blogging, I thought perhaps some of you could use those little moments of happiness as well 🙂
First off, the Caramel Apple Cocktail, because we always start with cocktails, yes?
Once upon a time I was a bartender, as was D., and we’ve never lost our passion for mixology. Any occasion around the house involves us in the kitchen, “testing”, which in turn becomes it’s own occasion!
I saw a few apple cider sangria concoctions floating around pinterest, which brought me to the fall cocktail search. A apple-based cocktail sounded nice, still crisp enough for the warm days we’ve been having, but seasonal. We took classic Strongbow Cider (alcoholic) and added some caramel-infused apple goodness, then amped up the flavour with a cinnamon sugar rim. It’s delicious. De-licious.
Here is the recipe, in case you’d like to try it for yourself, which of course you will! It’s perfect as a greeter cocktail, for when guests arrive, or a dessert cocktail, after a savoury dinner…
This cocktail was featured in our newsletter this fall – if you’d like to sign up, you can do that here. We don’t share your email with anyone, ever, and each newsletter offers discounts on our online design services – yay!
Cheers! am xo
